KOMOTOBO EN OAS FÖR FLICKOR SOM FLYR KÖNSSTYMPNING.

Den traditionella omskärelse seden sker nu i december i flera områden i Kenya. I vissa stammar som bl.a. masai och kuria har nästan alla flickor utsatts för denna barbariska tradition. Många har infekterats och dött. Flera har fått Aids då man använder verktyg som inte steriliserats. Kyrkor och organisationer kämpar emot denna sed. Komotobo har nu blivit platsen dit flickorna flyr för att komma undan släktingar som vill tvinga dem till könsstympning. Just nu har 130 flickor fyllt missionsstationen och får en liggplats och mat. Man räknar med att ta emot upp till 220 flickor. Även vid den lokala kyrkan Kumatutura som ligger 15 km från Komotobo har upp emot 200 flickor sökt hjälp. Douglas Duveskog har just besökt flickorna och tagit de bilder som du ser här. Flickorna är vanligen mellan 11-16 år.

Trosgnistans mission är i akut behov av medel till mat och skydd. Vi samarbetar med myndigheter och andra organisationer.

Dear David,

 

We have had quite hard time during this period of circumcion in Kuria. It's  noisy everywhere!! The Christians are mocked by the participants in the their rituals. But I thank  the community in Sweden very much. We have now rescuced 130 girls and more are calling in. If possible they come to get safe at Komotobo, in three day time we expect the number to be 220 approximately.

 

We are regreting this terrible act. On Saturday a man was wounded. Other people had taken his girl by force to be cut.

When they were coming back with the girl the father questioned them. They cut off his hand (father)as he was trying to ask why they took his child be cut without his permission.

 

We have suspended one lady who was a cook for the girl after noticing that she organized her girl be cut from a neighbour family, and in silence work pretend to be against FGM. We wanted that those who work with us are role model in the community.

 

I thank you for support, we have receive also some 20000ksh from ADRA Kenya with offices at Kisii, now we can consinder some issue which we did not feature on planing like sanitery towels, medical care, soap, tissue paper among others.
